Starting in in Kununurra, I hope you have taken the chance to explore the tour options available here or will take a few days after our tour to do so. We will be traveling along the Ord river to Parry’s lagoon (great place for birding and a chance for a croc spotting) then on two Emma Gorge and then continue our journey along the Gibb river road and arriving at El Questro. We spend two evening at El Questro with time to explore the scenic gorges and relax in the thermal hot springs.
Back to the “Gibb River road”, We also visit Drysdale Station and visit a real working cattle property. Experience the spectacular Mitchell Falls and King Edward river. We will bush walk this area with opportunities for sonic helicopter flights. We will explore the magnificent gorges of this area including a visit to Galvins Gorge, Manning Gorge, Windjana Gorge and Tunnel Creek.
We will be driving in a remote part of Australia you will not believe is ours, the King Leopold Ranges are some of the oldest exposed rocks in the world, and truly make for spectacular viewing.
Our journey continues once we leave the Gibb river road, over the mighty Fitzroy river and onto Cape Leveque and the Dampier Peninsular. The striking colours of this area, from the bright blue of the ocean, white sands of the beaches and the red rusted earth, make it a must see.
After exploring the Cape Leveque, we will head to Broome for a well earned rest and a couple of days in paradise. We will make you feel at home here and ensure you get to know your way around.
Once we leave Broome we head for Fitzroy Crossing on the Fitzroy River, a complementary afternoon cruise of Giekie Gorge will keep you wanting more, we make camp for the night at Fitzroy River Lodge.
Halls Creek, then travel to World Heritage Listed Purnululu National Park where we will enjoy short walks while camping inside the National Park. Some may choose to take an optional helicopter flight over this natural wonder.
Finally traveling along between the King Leopold Range and the Car Boyd Range with spectacular scenery our tour ends back in Kununurra.
Kununurra - El Questro
An Early start will see us picking you up from your accommodation, with a quick town tour we will make our way across the Ord river flood plain onto Parry’s lagoon and a chance for some bird watching and croc spotting. Then across to Wynnum and the 5 rivers lookout, before we head to Emma Gorge and an afternoon Bush walk and swim. Then we start the Gibb River Road, ending our day camping on the Pentecost river at El Questro station. There is an opportunity here to upgrade to a cabin if you wish.

Today we explore El Questro, a million acres is a lot to see in one day, with so many options on the stations, we will pick the best of it that suits you, and plan a wonderfull day. We will walk and explore some of El Questro’s Gorges, swim in the clear water or enjoy the falls.

El Questro - King Edward River
After breakfast we have the opportunity to enjoy a dip at Zebedee Springs a hot thermal pool surrounded by Livistonia Palms. Then back on the Gibb river road and across some of the Kimberleys best scenery and remote country side and cattle stations. We will call into Drysdale station for a top up of supplies and then onto the spectacular King Edward river where we will make camp for a couple of days. This area of Australis is truly special and a wonder to behold, here will be our fist chance at some Wndjina and Gweon Gweon art, of an ancient culture and one we hope to help you better understand.
Camp – King Edward River – B.L.D.T.C.
Travelling along the remote rough and narrow track we make our way along the plateau and take in the spectacular scenery as we pass the Livistonia Palms and amazing lookouts. Walk to little Mertens Falls view amazing (Gweon Gweon) Bradshaw Art and then onto the famous Mitchell Falls the second highest falls in WA with a combined height of 80m.
Although most of the walking is relatively easy and visit some beautiful swimming holes, the walk from Mitchell Falls campground down to the Falls does include short sections of rock hopping. To do this walk we recommend that you are fit and able to endure these conditions.
There is an opportunity to enjoy an optional helicopter flight over this amazing country. On our walk down to the falls, there are many opportunities for swimming.
Return to King Edward River

King Edward River
A driving day today back down the drysdale rd, across the Gibb River, Hann River and Manning River, which we can stop at along the way. These river are another natural beauty that make this area so special. We will make camp on Mt Barnett station on the manning river, under the beautiful Boab trees, and enjoy another star lite night.

Tanami Track - West McDonald Ranges
Traveling today along the Tanami track we will pass the old Roadhouse Rabbit Flat, on route to the NT most remote Art Gallery, Papaya. Here we will have a chance to purchase and view some of the NT best indigenous art. After a stunning afternoons drive towards the West McDonald ranges, we will arrive at our camp, being at the head of the Fink River at Glen Helen Gorge.
Manning Gorge - Windjana Gorge
Joining the Gibb River Road again a short drive to Galvins Gorge, provides a fantastic opportunity to cool off under the waterfall, then it’s over the King Leopold Range. Visit Tunnel Creek where water has worn a tunnel beneath the limestone of the Napier Range part of the 375 to 350 million year old Devonian Reef system. You can walk 750 metres through the tunnel to the other side of Napier Range wading through several permanent pools and watching for bats. It is home to Western Australians oldest cave system. Our evening is spent at Windjana Gorge.
Windjana Gorge - Cape Leveque
We will walk into this stunning Gorge at Windjana and experience the grander of the Napier range. Then back on the Gibb River road on route for Cape Leveque along the way we will see the prison tree, a quick visit the Darby, cross the mighty Fitzroy river. We will camp on the Dampier peninsular at Kooljaman camp right at the tip of Cape Leveque on this stunning coast line.

Leveque - Broome
Today we will explore this beautiful area, with opportunities for scenic flights over the horizontal falls and the Buccaneer Archipelago’s, visit One Arm Point, walk around the red cliff of the cape, swim in the blue waters and relax on the beautiful white sand beaches. We will travel to Broome and drop you off at your accommodation or you can stay with us at the Broom bird observatory, after we have had town tour.

A free day for you spent in Broome, we will be having a day of shopping and regrouping for our last leg of the tour. We will make sure that you have a good idea of what there is to do in Broome and be available if you need us. We do suggest that you make the most of your time here and stay in one of the wonderfull motels or resorts and spoil yourselves after camping in the wilderness for 9 days.
Broome - Fitzroy Crossing
We leave the comforts of the coast and head back inland along hwy No1. to Fitzroy Crossing. Where we will take a sunset cruise into Geikie Gorge Cruise which is a great way to experience the mighty Fitzroy River. Learn about the history, capture some amazing colours of the limestone Napier range, marvel in the birdlife and crocodiles along the river.
Fitzroy Crossing - Purnululu NP
Today we make our way along the Hwy through Halls Creek and onto the world heritage Purnululu National Park to see the Bungle Bungles. We travel along rugged 4WD only tracks before setting our camp late in the afternoon. The Bungles are famous for its 400 meter high beehive shaped domes.

Explore Picanniny Creek, Cathedral Gorge and Echidna Chasm. Some great short walks with some of the most spectacular scenery ever to be seen. Today there is the option for a scenic Helicopter flight and experience it all from the air.

Purnululu NP - Kununurra
Today we make our way back over the rugged 4WD track back to the main sealed road. We travel through to Kununurra between the King Leopold Range and the Car Boyd Range, with spectacular rock formations, passing Argle Diamond mine and a chance to stop at some wonderful art galleries along the way. Finishing our tour in Kununurra and dropping you off at your accommodation.

What will be available for your use:
A solar powered refrigerator will be available for any medicine. In car chargers can be used for charging appliances and also opportunities for 240 vlt charging.
Washing machines will not be available on this tour, although bucket washing at any time. Water will need to be used with caution, as we will be traveling threw desert country, a bush shower will be made available with hot water from the camp fire.
We will provide powder, pegs and line for hanging clothes and buckets to wash in, Bush shower, toilet paper, hand sanitiser and fresh drinking water

Please remember that we are traveling through a beautiful remote part of Australia, as safety is our first thought, this is an adventure you will never forget.
